Mymensingh: Five fined for violating code of conduct
Mobile court fined five people for violating code of conduct during yesterday's election to Gouripur municipality. According to sources, the court conducted drive at Gouripur Pilot School centre and fined Shafiqul Islam, cousin of councillor candidate Sadequl Islam, Tk 5,000. The court then fined Anup Kumar and Badhan, relatives of a mayor candidate, at Chakpara centre and realised Tk 2,000 from each of them, reports our correspondent. The same court fined a youth named Sanaullah Tk 1,000 at Nutun Bazar centre and Syed Muklesur Rahman Tk 5,000 in Purbo Bhaluka centre. Meanwhile, a man was injured in mob beating in Trishal municipality as he came out of Nazrul College centre with two ballot papers. Locals caught the man and beat him up. A police sub-inspector was removed from Savar University College centre on charge of violating election code of conduct yesterday, reports UNB. Abdur Razzak, a sub-inspector of Savar Police Station, allegedly put seal on the ballot papers in a bid to cast votes for the grand alliance backed mayoral candidate at the centre in the morning. Being informed, Rafiqul Islam, additional police superintendent of Dhaka district, went to the spot and removed the sub-inspector (SI). Gazipur: Voting postponed in eight polling centres

Two polling agents were arrested and another was expelled from polling centres for influencing the voters to cast votes in favour of Awami League's mayor candidate in Sherpur municipal election yesterday, reports UNB. Law enforcers arrested polling agents Kamal and Rashed as they were found forcing the voters to put seal on the election symbol of the AL mayor candidate. Suraiya Akhter, an agent of the AL mayoral candidate, was expelled from the polling centre on the same charge.
