3 youths jailed for life in rape case
A court here sentenced three youths to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a rape case in Manikganj on Thursday. The court also fined Tk.1 lakh each, in default, to suffer three years more RI.
The convicts are Belayet Hossain, 26, Akter Hossain, 28, and Sohel Rana alias Suika, 33, of Bhabanipur village under Shivalaya upazila .
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Court-2 Kiron Shankar Halder pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicts at noon.
A daughter of Amir Hossain of Maluchi village under Shivalaya upazila was raped by the three on June 4 in 2005.
The convicts look the girl to a lonely place at Bhabanipur and violated her.
A garment worker, the girl was returning home from her workplace at Nabinagar of Dhaka.
The victim filled the case with the Shivalaya police station against the three culprits.
