Two youths jailed for stalking schoolgirls

Mobile courts in Netrakona and Faridpur on Tuesday and the day before jailed two youths for stalking schoolgirls. A mobile court in Kendua upazila of Netrakona district on Tuesday evening sentenced a young man to 6 months imprisonment and fined Tk 10 thousand on charge of stalking a schoolgirl, reports our correspondent. Convict Abul Mia, 25, is son of late Abdul Aziz of village Dawra under Kendua upazila. Executive Magistrate and UNO of Kendua upazila Rezaul Karim led the mobile court. Kendua police sources said Abul Mia used to harass Rozina Akhter, a student of class ten of Dawra High School. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kedua police station Mosharaf Hossen said Abul was held on Tuesday for stalking Rozina when she was returning home from school. In Faridpur, a mobile court on Monday convicted a stalker and awarded him six months imprisonment for harassing a schoolgirl in Madhukhali upazila. The convict was identified as Nazrul Sheikh, 20, son of Mohammad Majid Sheikh of Karonnopur village in the upazila. Sources said Nazul used to tease Reshma, 12, a class VI student of local Ariakandi High School on the way to and from her school. Reshma's father filed a complaint with the Madhukhali PS on January 9. Police arrested Nazrul and a mobile court handed down the verdict at night.
