Flurry of pledges by mayor candidates
Mayoral aspirants in Rangamati municipality have vowed to reduce holding tax, build public toilets, shishu park, school for the physically challenged, roads and community centre, if voted to power.
The also pledged to maintain communal harmony, develop drainage system, ensure supply of safe drinking water and fight against crime and corruption.
All the four mayoral candidates made their electoral pledges and replied to voters' queries in a 'face-to-face with people' programme organised by Rangamati Sacheton Nagorik Committee on the premises of Rajbari Gymnasium in the town yesterday.
They are Abdul Matin (AL), Saiful Islam Bhutto (BNP), and independent candidates advocate Pratim Roy Pampu and Mohsin Rana.
Mayor aspirant advocate Pratim Roy Pampu promised to lower holding tax rate, develop drainage system, launch town service buses and keep the municipality free from corruption, if elected.
Abdul Matin pledged to build shishu park, public toilets, school for the physically challenged, roads and community centre, and maintain communal harmony.
Mohsin Rana said he will give priority to development projects while Saiful Islam Bhutto promised to ensure civic amenities for townspeople.
