2 jailed for stalking schoolgirls
Two young men were jailed in Gaibandha and Dinajpur on Monday and the day before for stalking two schoolgirls.
A mobile court in Gaibandha sentenced a young man to one-year imprisonment on charge of stalking a schoolgirl at village Utter Ghagoa in Sadar upazila on Monday, reports our correspondent.
Judge Mostafizur Rahman punished Sumon Mia, 22, for continuously harassing Yasmeen Akhter, a student of class ten at Ghagoa MB High School.
Sources said Sumon, son of Nurunnabi Sarker of village Utter Ghagoa used to stalk Yasmeen on way to school and home.
On Monday, Yasmeen together with two classmates -- Abdur Rashid and Mousumi -- went to nearby coaching center. When they were returning home, Sumon Mia waylaid them and started to drag the victim and repressed her physically.
As the classmates raised a hue and cry, local people rushed to spot and caught Sumon and gave a good beating.
In Dinajpur, a teenage boy was jailed for two months in Hakimpur upazila on Sunday for stalking a schoolgirl, reports our correspondent.
The boy was identified as Md Abdul Mabud, 19, son of Md Shahidul Islam, of village Kumargari of Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district.
Earlier police arrested the boy from Chandipur village of the upazila on Sunday morning.
Police said, Mabud used to tease Monowara Begum, 13, daughter of Montu Miah of the village, on her way to school. Monowara is a class eight student of Hakimpur Polot School.
On Saturday night, Mabud entered the house Montu Miah and made an indecent offer to her daughter. As the girl screamed, Mabud fled the scene.
On Sunday morning, Montu Mia filed a complaint with Hakimpur police station in this regard and the mobile court led by UNO sent the boy to jail.
