Rab recovers arms, bombs in 3 dists
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have recovered two pistols in Kushtia and 12 bombs in Comilla and Khulna.
A Rab team recovered two .9mm pistols from the house of nephew of a former BNP lawmaker in Kushtia on Sunday afternoon, reports our correspondent.
Rab, however, could not arrest Bizly Malitha, an arms peddler and son of Nurul Islam Malitha.
On the day, a Rab-12 team led by Major Mohiuddin, in guise of buyers, went to Bizly Malitha's Cholodag's house at about 3:30pm.
Bizly showed two China made .9mm pistols to the Rab team. The law enforcers asked Bizly whether he had more such firearms.
Sensing danger, Bizly swiftly fled the scene telling the team that he had more firearms but he needed some time to collect those.
In Comilla, a Rab team recovered seven hand bombs from Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
Sources said the team conducted a drive in Chawk Bazar and recovered the bombs lying abandoned behind Islamia Madrasa.
In Khulna, Rab recovered five bombs from Khalishpur area of the city on Monday night.
Mir Modasser Ali, company commander of Rab-6 said they found two youths carrying a sack while patrolling the area at 9:45 pm.
As they challenged them in front of Madani Siddiqiya Nurani Madrasa of the area on suspicion, the youths fled the scene, leaving the sack at the gate of the madrasa.
