2 jailed for stalking in Satkhira, Chuadanga

Mobile courts in Satkhira and Chuadanga sentenced two youths to jail on charge of stalking on Wednesday and the day before. A college student was jailed for a month for stalking at village Ramkrishnapur in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira on Wednesday, reports our correspondent. Kalaroa upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) A N M Tariqul Islam, also the executive magistrate punished Ibrahim Hossain, 23, son of Ali Baksa Dafadar of village Sonabaria under the same upazila. Mobile court sources said Ibrahim, a student of Dhaka College used to stalk Banijan Bibi, 47, wife of late Khoda Bux of village Ramkrishnapur after coming to this village from Dhaka. The accused went to the woman's house at Ramkrishnapur and harassed her at about 9pm Tuesday night. Banijan filed an allegation with Kalaroa PS against the stalker on Wednesday and police later arrested him. In Chuadanga, another young man was awarded two months imprisonment and fined Tk 3000 for stalking by a mobile court on Tuesday night, reports our Kushtia correspondent. Kazi Saemuzzaman, executive magistrate, delivered the judgment after hearing both the sides. Convict Farhad Mia, 24, is son of Jalil Joarder of Baghdanga in Jhenidah district. He used to harass a schoolgirl of the same area. To get rid of Farhad, parents sent the girl to another daughter's house at Sorojganj village in Sadar upazila several months ago. But Farhad went to the village, rented a mess there and continued to tease her there. Relatives of the girl informed the matter to police. On Tuesday, police arrested Farhad at about 6:30pm and handed him over to the mobile court.
