BSF kidnaps 4 Bangladeshis
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) abducted four Bangladeshi fishermen from Kachhikata area of River Roymongal in the Sundarbans on Friday.
The fishermen are now detained in Basirhat jail, according to a report received here yesterday. They are Azizul Dhali, 46, son of Ahsan Dhali, Abdur Rouf Dhali, 21, and Bakkar Dhali, 14, sons of Azizul Dhali and Auranga Gazi, 38, son of Abul Hossain of village Tengrakhali in Shyamnagar upazila.
The fishermen went to the Sundarbans for fishing after duly taking pass from the Kaikhali forest office in the Sundarbans on December 23.
BSF men of Shamshernagar camp in India entered Bangladesh territory and abducted them while they were catching fish at Kachhikata in Shyamnagar upazila.
Later the Indian border guards handed them to Basirhat police and since then they have been detained there.
An Indian national yesterday over cell phone confirmed their detention in Basirhat jail, victim Auranga Gazi's father Abul Hossain said.
Kaikhali union parishad (UP) member Abdul Bari said the four fishermen went missing on December 31. He said they will inform the matter to BDR soon.
Meanwhile, body of an Indian national, killed by Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday on Pakirdanga border under Basirhat PS in India opposite to Bhomra, was handed over to BSF after a flag meeting yesterday evening.
BSF members of Pakirdanga Hakimpur camp arrested Indian national Bappi Mondal, 35, of village Pakirdanga in India on December 31 and tortured him severely at night.
Later the BSF men left seriously injured Bappi Mondal inside Bangladesh territory near Pillar No-3 near at Bhomra presuming him dead.
The victim succumbed to his injuries soon after BDR men rescued him the next morning.
