5 leaders of Jamaat, Shibir sent to jail
A court sent to jail three leaders of the district unit Jamaat-e-Islami and two Shibir men, rejecting their bail petitions yesterday.
The five Jamaat leaders were identified as district Jamaat ameer Abdus Sattar, Sadar upazila Jamaat ameer Prof Shamsul Islam Talukder, secretary Abdur Rashid Hasemi, district unit Shibir president Mahfuzur Rahman Bhuiyan and secretary Abul Hashem Mollah.
They were held in connection with December 7 clash in which 30 people including 5 policemen were injured.
Police filed a case against 42 Jamaat leaders and workers under |Speedy trial |Act on the day.
