15 shops gutted
A devastating fire that broke out at a bazar here gutted at least 15 shops on Monday. Witnesses said, the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop at Palong Bazaar and soon engulfed the adjacent 14 shops at about 12:00 noon. On information, fire fighters from the district headquarters and Madaripur rushed in and extinguished the flame after one hour of hectic effort with the help of local people. The affected shop owners claimed that the extent of loss from fire might exceed Tk 6 crore.
