JCD factions clash in Dinajpur
Four BNP activists were injured as two factions of Chhatra Dal locked in clash over formation of its municipality committee on Monday, party sources said.
Dinajpur district BNP treasurer Md Jamil Ahmed Bhola was critically injured while trying to stop the clash inside the party office at night.
Dinajpur district Chhatra Dal convener Md Mostafa Kamal Milon convened a meeting over formation of Dinajpur municipality committee in the evening ahead of election, police said. Acting General Secretary of the committee Md Moksedul Islam Tutul and Dinajpur municipality BNP unit convener Nur Alam were also present during the meeting.
Supporters of Milon and Nur Alam argued at the meeting which turned violent leaving four people wounded. Being informed, police rushed to the spot brought the situation under control.
Injured people were admitted to hospitals from where they left after treatment.
Contacted, Md. Mukut Chowdhury, General Secretary of Dinajpur district BNP said, he knew nothing about the incident as he was staying out of the district town for the last several days.
