Bangladeshi 'tortured to death' by BSF

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel recovered the body of a Bangladeshi cattle trader from Khidirpur border in Poba upazila of Rajshahi on Friday. Bangladesh border guards found the body of Abdul Haque Kutu, 55, of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on no man's land near Khidirpur outpost at around 11:300am and handed it over to Motihar police. Witnesses and relatives of the victim said Kutu was tortured to death by Indian Border Security Forces (BSF). Tajerul Islam Haque, nephew of Kutu, alleged that the BSF picked up Kutu when he along with some other cattle traders intruded into India for buying cattle Thursday afternoon. According to the inquest report, Kutu was beaten to death, Officer-in-Charge Abul Khayer of Motihar Police Station, claimed. Commanding Officer of 37 Rifles Battalion Lt Col Zahid Hassan said police will investigate the killing of Kutu. Police sent the body to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. An unnatural death case was lodged with Motihar Police Station.
