Chandpur: 48 AL men to vie for seven mayor posts
As many as 48 Awami League men submitted their nomination papers for mayoral posts in the upcoming elections to seven municipalities scheduled for January 18 in Chandpur district, according to a correspondent.
Of them, 14 submitted their nominations in Kachua, four in Hajiganj, nine in Shahrasti, seven in Chhengarchar, six in Matlab and eight in Faridganj.
Meanwhile, election to Chandpur municipality will be held on January 27 next year and the ruling Awami League is giving support to incumbent Mayor Nasir Uddin Ahmed.
Besides, Jatiya Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, BNP and independent candidates submitted their nomination papers for the mayoral posts.
