Kushtia: 189 candidates
As many as 189 candidates submitted their nomination papers to contest the upcoming elections to four municipalities in Kushtia district, says our correspondent.
In Khoksa municipality: Four people filed nominations for the mayoral post, 32 for councillor posts and nine for the reserved seats for women.
In Kumarkhali municipality: Five candidates are contesting for the mayoral post, 40 for councillor posts and 10 for women reserved seats.
In Mirpur municipality: Five people submitted nominations for the mayor post, 30 for councillor posts and 11 for women reserved seats.
In Bheramara municipality: Four candidates filed nominations for the mayoral post, 29 for councillor posts and 10 for the reserved seats for women.
