The family members of Kazi Altaf Hossain, who was slain in Afghanistan last week, are anxiously waiting to get the body. On last Friday, armed Afghans killed Altaf Hossain, 32, son of Jabed Kazi of village Khanpur Charpara in Bera upazila under Pabna district, and abducted two road workers from their camp beside the road being constructed to connect areas of northern Samangan and Balkh provinces. As the family members came to know of the tragic incident through the television, it was too much to bear for them. “Altaf's widow Beauty Khatun became speechless after hearing the news. She is mourning with her newborn baby on the lap,” said villagers and relatives who are trying to console her. Altaf Hossain, a diploma engineer, went to Afghanistan for livelihood six years ago and worked as an asphalt plant operator at Samwhan Corporation, a South Korean construction firm, said villagers and the family sources. In 2008, Altaf came to the country and married Beauty Khatun. He left the country again for joining his duty in Afghanistan. Beauty gave birth to a daughter 45 days ago. Hearing the news, Altaf assured Beauty to come to the country soon to see the baby. “We never thought that Aftaf would be lost in such a way. His newborn baby is too unfortunate to see her father. Now we urge the government to bring his body as early as possible. All of our family are anxiously waiting for it,” said Altaf's elder brother Habib Kazi.
