Rajon, Asif charged with killing Natore college teacher

A charge sheet against the two accused of murder of Mizanur Rashid was submitted yesterday noon to a Natore magistrate's court. Mizanur, a district college teacher, had been killed for protesting stalking of his college students. Abdur Rahim, sub-inspector of Bagatipara Police Station and also investigation officer of the murder case, submitted the charge sheet against Abdul Awal Rajon and Mamunur Rashid Asif. Mizanur, a chemistry teacher of Lokmanpur College in Bagatipara upazila of the district, sustained severe injuries to the head and other parts of the body on October 12 when Rajon and Asif on their motorbikes ran into Mizanur and struck him with an iron rod, according to the charge sheet. Mamunur Rashid, elder brother of the victim, filed a case accusing Asif and Rajon with the police station on October 15. After fighting for life for 12 days, Mizanur died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital. Meanwhile, police on October 20 arrested the main accused of the case Asif, and after eight days of that Rajon was arrested from Chakrampur of Natore town. They are now in jail. The victim's widow, Razia Sultana Mili on December 15 was appointed to Baneshwar Degree College as a lecturer of political science.
