166 aspirants for mayor, 1190 for councillor posts in Rangpur divn
As many as 166 mayor aspirants and 1190 councillor candidates filed nomination papers on Monday to contest the election scheduled for January 12 in 17 out of 22 municipalities of Rangpur division.
Panchagarh: Three people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post while 46 for councillor posts in nine wards and 12 for reserved seats for women. The mayor aspirants are Abdul Kader, Md Touhidul Islam and Md Johirul Islam.
Thakurgaon: Five people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post while 66 for councillor posts in 12 wards and 17 for women reserved seats.
The mayor candidates are SM Moyeen, Md Masud, SM Solaiman Ali Sarker, Choudhury Mohammad Golam Sarwar Ranju and Aminul Islam Kalam.
Ranisangkoil (Takurgaon): Six people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post of the municipality. They are Mokhlesur Rahman, Siraj-ud Dowla, Alamgir Sarker, Khandaker Abdul Haque, Mohammad Toha and Tajul Islam. Forty-two people submitted nomination papers for councillor posts in nine wards while 13 for the reserved seats.
Pirganj (Takurgaon) : Four people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post while 34 for councillor posts in nine wards and eight for the reserved seats. The mayor aspirants are Anwar Hossain, Mujibur Rahman, Esraful Haque and Golam Mostafa.
Nilphamari: seven people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post of the municipality while 37 for councillor posts and nine for the reserved seats for woman. AKM Aminul Hoque, Anisur Rahman, Ansuzzaman Rumi, Dewan Kamal Ahmed, Zahurul Alam, Khairul Anam and Abu Helal will contest the election as mayor candidates.
Sayedpur (Nilphamari) : Eleven people filed nomination papers for the mayoral post while 91 for councillor posts in 15 wards and 27 for the reserved seats. The mayor candidates are Shaheen Akter, Sakhawat Hossain, Abdur Rahman, Hitler Choudhury, Amjad Hossain Sarker, Zakir Hossain Talukder, Jobeydul Islam Biplob, Tahmid Islam, Akhter Hossain Badal, Siddiqul and Joynal Abedeen.
Jaldhaka (Nilphamari) : Seven people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post of the municipality. They are Anwarul Kabir Choudhury, Abdul Wahed Bahadur, Azizul Huq, Ilias Hossain, Harun-ur Rashid, Moinul Islam and Mokbul Hossain. Fifty-three people filed nominations for councillor posts while 13 for the reserved seats for women.
Lalmonirhat : Five people submitted nomination papers for the post of mayor while 53 for councillor posts and 12 for the reserved seats. Those are contesting the poll for the mayoral post are Reazul Islam Rintu, Abdur Rashid, Chittaranjan Roy, Mosharraf Hossain Rana and Hafizur Rahman Babla.
Patgram (Lalmonirhat) : Five people filed nominations for the mayoral post while 38 for councillor posts and nine for the reserved seats. AKM Mostafa, Salauzzaman, Mofizar Rahman, Shamser Ali, Anisur Rahman and Morshed Alam are mayor candidates.
Kurigram; Nine people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post of the municipality while 66 for councillor posts and 18 for the reserved seats. The mayor aspirants are Noor Islam, Abu Baker Siddique, Majidul Alam, Mokhlesul Gazi, Sakhawat Hossain Biplob, Abdul Jalil, Kaziul Islam, Touhidul Islam and Yasin Ali Sarker.
Nageshwari (Kurigram) : Ten people filed nominations for the mayoral post of the municipality while 62 for councillor posts and 19 for the reserved seats for women. Golam Rasul, Fazlul Haque, Mohammad Hossain Ali, Abdul Kashem Sarker, Abdus Sabur Abdur Rahman Mia, Abdur Rob, Mossadekh Hossain, Hossain Ali Sarker and Roushan Alam are contesting the poll for the post of mayor.
Ulipur (Kurigram): Twelve people filed nominations for the mayoral post of the municipality. They are Sajedur Rahman, Shafiul Hossain, Abdul Quddus, AKM Shafiqul Islam, Haider Ali Mia, Abdullah Ali, Abu Sayeed Sarker, Abdul Hamid Sarker, Rakibul Islam, Saifur Rahman, Mokhlesur Rahman and Golam Mstafa. Sixty-three people submitted nominations for councilllor posts while 17 for the reserved seats.
Gaibandha: Seven people filed nominations for the mayoral post while 61 for councillor posts and 19 for the reserved seats. The mayor candidates are Anwarul Islam Sabuj, Shah Shariful Islam, Masud Zakir, Sahadat Hossain, Momtazur Rahman, Shamsul Alam, Hamidul Haque and Wahiduzzaman Titu.
Gobindaganj (Gaibandha) : Six people submitted nomination papers for the mayoral post while 47 for councillor posts and 13 for the reserved seats. The mayor candidates are Nazmul Hossain Mukitur Rahman, Abdul Motin Molla Mossadek Ali, Faruque Ahmed and Atiur Rahman Sarker.
Sundarganj (Gaibandha): Six people filed nominations for the mayoral post of the municipality while 38 for councillor posts and 11 for the reserved seats. Md Nurunnabi, Badul Majid Mondol, ATM Masudul Islam, Md Abdullah, AKM Fakhrul Islam and Sahadat Hossain are contesting the poll for the post of mayor.
Baderganj (Rangpur) : Seven people submitted nominations for the mayoral post while 38 for councilor posts and 13 for the reserved seats. The mayor candidates are Monabbar Hossain, Hena Mohammad Ferdous, Kamal Lohani, Sarwar Jahan Manik, Anwarul Haque, Azizul Hoque and Uttam Kumar Saha
Haragachha (Rangpur): Seven people filed nominations for the mayoral post of the municipality. They are Nazrul Islam, Ershadul Haque, Monwar Hossain, Jamil Akter , Shahadat Hossain Jhantu, Saiful Islam, and Shafiul Alam.
