Robbers loot 7 houses in three districts
Robbers have looted at least seven houses in three districts.
In Narayanganj, robbers took away valuables worth Tk 25 lakh from a house injuring the house owner at Nishingapur under Fatulla police station early Sunday, reports UNB.
Police quoting locals said masked robbers numbering 12-15 swooped on the house of Saiful Islam, a local BNP leader, at about 1:30 am and took the members of the house hostage at gunpoint.
Later, the robbers looted valuables, including 20 tolas of gold ornaments, cash and mobile phone sets worth Tk 25 lakh. At one stage the gang stabbed Saiful mercilessly as he tried to resist them.
The injured house owner was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
In Keraniganj, a gang looted valuables worth Tk 15 lakh from two houses in Sonakanda area on Saturday night.
Locals said, 10-15 robbers stormed into the house of Saudi expatriate Mahabubur Rahman at dead of night and looted 16 tolas of gold ornaments and Tk 10 lakh in cash.
Later, the gang entered the nearby house of Jajj Miah breaking open the door. They took the members of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted eight tolas of gold ornaments, cash and other valuables.
Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot but the robbers fled the area by a microbus.
In yet another incident in Manikganj, a gang of robbers looted valuables worth Tk 6 lakh from four houses and a shop at Tarail village in Ghior upazila early Friday.
Locals said, the gang numbering 20/25 first swooped on the house of Shamin Hossain at about 12:30am and took away cash and other valuables from his house.
Later, the gang entered into a nearby shop of Baju Khan and looted cash and other valuables worth Tk 15,000.
The robbers later raided the nearby houses of Wadud Ansari, Mannan Ansari and Shahjahan Mia one after another late at night.
They beat up the members of the house indiscriminately and looted cash, gold ornaments, mobile phone sets and other valuables worth Tk 6 lakh.
