<i>Stalkers stab protester to death in Kushtia</i>
A man, stabbed by a gang of stalkers for protesting their evil act in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district on June 10, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday evening.
Mohiuddin Ahmed, 30, of Dudhpatila village died while he was being shifted from Chuadanga Sadar Hospital to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) at around 6:30pm.
Police quoted locals as saying that Raju Hossain, 22, and Sohel Ahmed, 20, of Anwarpur village under the upazila stalked two schoolgirls at Dudhpatia village when they were returning home at the village from their school on June 8.
As one Jahangir Alam of the village protested, the stalkers and their accomplices beat him up and hung him from a tree. Hearing the news, people of Dudhpatia village rushed to the spot and rescued Jahangir.
Later, the influential people of the two villages called for amicable settlement of the issue and arranged a meeting at the upazila headquarters on June 10.
Accordingly, both sides attended the meeting on the day. When Mohiuddin and other villagers of Dudhpatila protested the June 8 incident and demanded exemplary punishment to Raju and Sohel for stalking the two girls of their village, the stalkers and their accomplices stabbed him and injured eight others.
Dudhpatila villagers were enraged at Mohiuddin's death on Tuesday night and they beat up one Ismail Hossain, 40, of Anwarpur village and set his motorbike afire.
Mohiuddin's brother filed a murder case with Damurhuda Police Stationagainst against 14 people including stalkers Raju and Sohel.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reported that a stalker and four members of his family were sued in Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Ashraf Ali of Singia village filed a case with Thakurgaon Police Station against stalker Akhtarul, his father Mohammad Siddik, mother Akili Begum, and brothers Manik Islam and Mohammad Robbani of the same village.
In the case statement, Ashraf said Akhtarul stalked his daughter Arfin Jahan Mitu, 15, a student of Balia Fazil Madrasa on Sunday morning. He alleged that the stalker and his accomplices also beat him as he protested their evil act.
