3 robbers held in Natore
Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 20 lakh from the house of former Assistant Controller of Jahangirnagar University (JU) at Islamnagar here early Friday.
Police and locals said, a gang of robbers numbering 15/20 swooped on the house of Bachchu Mia at about 4:00 am. They took the members of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted cash, 50 tolas of gold ornaments, mobile phone sets and other valuables.
The gang also beat up Shamsunnahar, wife of Bachchu Mia, severely as she tried to resist them.
A case was filed in this connection.
In Natore, police in a drive seized a private car and arrested three robbers along with a firearm from near Kachikata toll plaza on Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in Gurudaspur upazila on Friday night.
The arrestees were identified as Bazlu and Mamun of Singra upazila and Shuvo of Chatmohor upazila in Pabna district.
Police said, a team of DB police challenged the private car while it was moving suspiciously in the area at dead of night.
Later, after a hot chase they seized the car and arrested the three robbers along with a shutter gun loaded with three bullets while three others managed to flee from the car.
Police said the arrestees are the members of an inter-district robber gang. A case was filed in this connection.
