Illegal clinic sealed, 'fake' doctor held
A mobile court Tuesday night sealed an illegal eye clinic and arrested its 'fake' doctor Wahiduzzaman alias Shahid, 40, in Kazipara area in the town.
Executive magistrate Shirin Shabnam led the court aided by a team from Rab-8 and local police.
Police said, the mobile court raided the clinic at around 9:30pm. Wahiduzzaman alias Shahid failed to show any valid papers including trade license in favour of the clinic to the court.
Contacted, the executive magistrate in Patuakhali told this correspondent that the clinic was running without any approval from Director General (DG), Health. Owner of the clinic also failed to show any paper on the machinery in his clinic.
Police on the spot sealed the clinic and Abdul Khaleq, SI of Patuakhali police station filed a case with the police station in this regard.
Locals alleged that Shahid was running his business in the area for the last six months at a rented house in Kazipara area.
Patients used to receive primary treatment at his clinic. After some days he sends them to Barisal in the name of better treatment.
"This way he was cheating locals in the name of treatment," said a relative of a patient.
