Youth shot dead
A youth was shot dead and two others were injured as unidentified assailants open fire on them in Natun Bazar rail crossing area in the town early yesterday.
The dead is Shahjahan alias Saju, 28, son of Abdul Latif of Boro Bazar area in the town. The bullet-injured Saany, 25, and Farhad, 23, are undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
Police said Saju, Saany and Farhad were gossiping in the room of the gateman of the level crossing at around 12:30am. Suddenly, a gang of four to five appeared there, sprayed bullets on them and left the scene.
Saju received bullet in the chest and died on the spot while locals rushed Saany and Farhad to MMCH.
