Huge toxic mangoes seized in C'nawabganj

A mobile court comprising an executive magistrate, police and BDR seized 3,360 kg of toxic mangoes from a wholesale market at Kansat in Shibganj upazila on Monday night. The team also seized 10 kg of toxic carbide, 200 grams of another poisonous chemical ecophene, a spray machine and 114 plastic cartons from there. Anisur Rahman, Sub Inspector (SI) of Shibganj police station said a mobile court led by executive magistrate Mohammad Jasim Uddin raided the warehouse of one Sadek Ali at around 10 pm and seized the toxic mangoes, poisonous chemicals and the spray machine while the workers were mixing carbide with mangoes. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, mango trader Sadek Ali fled the scene. Anisur said that the seized mangoes would be destroyed after getting order from the court. A case has been filed with Shibganj police station against mango trader Sadek Ali.
