Militants of Allar Dal have threatened to blow up the houses at Kishmat Bagchi and Hially villages under Sadullapur upazila as the villagers helped police arrest two activists of the banned Islamist outfit on the night of May 26. The militants gave the threat to Rezaul Islam and Shamsul Huq of Hially village over cellphone on Saturday. Fearing attack on them, several hundred people of the two villages went to Sadullapur Police Station and the UNO office Sunday afternoon and demanded security of their life and property. They later brought out a procession at the upazila headquarters demanding immediate arrest of Allar Dal militants and submitted a memorandum to the UNO. Addressing a rally in front of the UNO office, the speakers said the followers of Allar Dal kingpin Matin Mehdi, who was sentenced to death by a court for his involvement in militant activities, are now regrouping in Sadullapur upazila. They urged the law enforcement agencies to launch drives in different areas of the upazila to arrest the militants. On the night of May 26, Sadullapur police arrested two militants of Allar Dal at Kismat Bagchi village. Over 15 militants of the banned outfit joined a religious gathering at the house of one Mukul Mandol. As former BDR personnel Moslem Ali protested their activities, they beat up Moslem and his son Titu. Being informed, Sadullapur police rushed to the village, raided the house and arrested Mukul Mandol, 43, and Hazat Ali, 26, while the rest managed to flee through the back door.
