Under trial prisoner dies in Satkhira
An under trial prisoner of the district jail died at Sadar hospital on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Sattar, 45, son of Hossain Ali of Hetalkhali village in Shymnagar upazila.
Police said locals caught Abdus Sattar and Amjad Hossain while
they were preparing for robbery at Srifolkati village in Shymnagar upazila and handed them over to police after giving them a good beating on February 20.
Jail Superintendent Nurannabi Bhuiyan said Sattar and Amjad were sent to jail by a court in a robbery case on February 21.
Both were admitted to jail hospital on that night as their condition was not good due to physical torture. Later, they were shifted to Sadar Hospital on February 24 as their condition deteriorated. Sattar died in the hospital at 5:45 pm.
