<i>Madrasa student brutally tortured by teacher</i>
A madrasa teacher tortured a student, confining him to a room of the madrasa for two days since Sunday afternoon in Dinajpur town while police recovered the decapitated body of a madrasa student from a char under Narsingdi Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
According to our Dinajpur correspondent, Iqbal Hossain, 15, a resident student of Chawliapatty Nurjahan Madrasa, managed to escape from captivity at around 1:30pm yesterday and came to the local press club along with his father Yasin Ansari of Bahadur Bazar in the town.
The boy alleged that a teacher of the madrasa confined him to a room of the madrasa hostel over a trifling matter Sunday afternoon and tortured him physically.
He showed the journalists the injury marks on his back, but did not mention the name of the teacher.
Iqbal's father Yasin said he will file a case against the teacher with Sadar Police Station.
He alleged that the teacher had earlier tortured several other students of the madrasa the same way.
Contacted, the madrasa authorities declined to comment on the issue.
In Narsingdi, the decapitated body of a 15-year-old madrasa student was found at remote char area at Nabipur under Narsingdi Sadar upazila yesterday morning, reports a correspondent.
Police quoted family sources as saying that an unidentified gang called Sumon Miah, a student of local Battoli Alia Madrasa, out of his house at Nabipur village early yesterday.
Locals found his decapitated body on a paddy field in the morning and informed the police.
Police went to the spot at noon, recovered the body and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
