Khulna Shibir man held in connection with murder
Police on Saturday arrested a cadre of Islami Chhatra Shibir suspecting his involvement in the killing of prominent fish exporter Azad Gazi.
Azad was killed in a bomb attack at his residence on Friday night at Alka village under Phultala upazila.
Arrestee Kazi Enamul Huq Mithu,28, is son of Hatem Ali of Damodar under the same upazila.
Mithu was remanded for three days yesterday for interrogation in connection with the murder.
Shajahan Gazi, elder brother of the slain fish exporter lodged a complaint with Phultala police station on Friday midnight.
Azad Gazi was killed in bomb attack at 10:20 pm. Police seized a sharp dagger and collected splinters of bomb from the place of occurrence.
“We are looking for another Shibir cadre who planned the murder of the fish exporter”, said OC Kamruzzaman.
According to complainant of the case, Azad received three death threats in the last one month from unidentified callers who demanded Tk 10 lakh as toll from him.
