Monday's Attack on Kachua AC-Land
BCL leader, Jubo League activist arrested
Police yesterday arrested a Chhatra League leader and a Jubo League activist in connection with the attack on the assistant commissioner of land (AC-Land) at Kachua upazila headquarters on Monday.
The arrestee are Nasir Uddin Shishir, 20, general secretary of BCL Kachua Bangabandhu Degree College unit, and Nasir Ullah, 28, an activist of Jubo League Kachua pourasava (municipalily) unit.
They were arrested following a case filed by the AC land, Md Mostafizur Rahman, on Monday night against 25 to 30 attacker including Imran, Mamun, Awlad and Sohag.
TM Mojahidul Islam, additional police superintendent of Chandpur, said the arrestees were also wanted in other cases.
According to Kachua UNO Nure Alam Siddiqui, the government officials and employees in the upazila yesterday abstained from work protesting the attack on the AC land.
In a meeting of the District Law and Order Committee at the conference room of the deputy commissioner yesterday, Kachua Upazila Parishad Chairman Ayub Ali Patwari said the expelled BCL men were involved in Monday's incident. He demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
UNOs of different upazilas and other officials attended the meeting with Deputy Commissioner Biswas Azimuddin in the chair. They condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits.
BCL activists on Monday seriously injured AC land Mostafizur Rahman, hitting him on the head with an iron rod as he prevented them from building a house on the government land. He is now undergoing treatment at Kachua Hospital.
The BCL activists also damaged a computer, files and necessary papers in his office room at the upazila headquarters.
Mostafiz said he prevented the BCL men from building a house on a piece of government land near Sonali Bank at Kachua Municipal Market in the evening.
