Robbers looted three buses in Sylhet while Rab arrested seven robbers and recovered a microbus from them in Kishoreganj on Wednesday.
UNB from Sylhet reports: Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 4 lakh from the passengers of three buses on Biswanath-Jagannathpur bypass road on Wednesday night injuring a bus driver and his helper critically.
Police said, an armed gang barricaded the road by putting log at about 11:00 pm. As the buses stopped, they took away eight mobile sets, cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the passengers at gunpoint.
The robbers at one stage stabbed bus driver Kabul Miah and his helper Kamal Miah. They were rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
In Kishoreganj, a Rab team arrested seven robbers and recovered a microbus and three mobile sets from their possession on Wednesday night.
The arrestees are identified Zahirul Islam,27, Md. Amin,27, Muhammad Ali,20, Jamal Mia,28, Anwar Parvez,26, Masuk alias Mishu,30, and Sirajul Islam,33.
According to sources, robber Sirajul and his accomplice Kabir on Tuesday hired a microbus from Companyganj under Muradnagar upazila of Comilla to go to Bhairab upazila's Bausbari area. On the way, they took away the microbus and three mobile sets from the driver at gunpoint.
The following day, the driver and owner of the microbus filed a case with Bhairab police station.
Acting on a tip-off, a Rab team from Bhairab recovered the microbus from Katiadi and arrested the robbers from Kamalpur at about 8:00pm.
