C'nawabganj people demand gas through pipeline
Chapainawabganj Rakhha Sangram Committee, a movement for development of Chapainawabganj, at a press conference held here yesterday, put forward before administration its six-point demand including gas supply through pipeline for overall development of the district.
Former student leaders Babul Kumar Ghosh, advocate Mizanur Rahman, Kamal Uddin, Faruk Hossain, Moniruzzaman Monir spoke at the press conference held at local town club auditorium.
Besides gas supply, other demands included immediate introduction of Dhaka-Chapainawabganj-Dhaka and Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi train services, proper maintenance of Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi rail route, construction of Second Mahananda Bridge, dredging of four rivers of the district, freeing district town from menace of drug abuse, upgradation of Adhunik Sadar Hospital, filling up of all vacant posts of Sadar hospital and five upazila health complexes.
Speakers also lamented saying, students are being deprived of education due to shortage of teachers at all government institutions throughout the district. They urged the government to fill up the vacant posts of teachers in the educational institutions. They demanded enhancement of Chapainawabganj Government College into university college.
The former student leaders initiated in formation of the newly floated Chapainawabganj Rakhha Sangram Committee recently.
