The military coup in Myanmar and the arrest of de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, and the imposition of a state of emergency have provoked mixed reactions in the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told The Daily Star today that the agreement on Rohingya repatriation was signed with the Myanmar state, and it doesn’t matter who is in power, the agreement must be followed.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said Myanmar responded positively towards starting Rohingya repatriation with the next round of talks scheduled for the first week of February.

Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres has said the UN will continue to stand with Bangladesh and mobilise international support to collectively address the Rohingya crisis and ask Myanmar to create a congenial environment for Rohingya repatriation.
