Feast smart this Qurbani Eid
As smoky grills light up homes and plates overflow with festive favourites, Qurbani Eid becomes a celebration of joy, family and irresistible food. Yet amid the excitement, health experts remind people that balance on the plate can make the festivities far more enjoyable — without the post-Eid regret.
One common mistake during Eid is eating large portions of rich meat in one sitting. Instead, enjoy smaller servings spread throughout the day. Slow eating not only helps digestion but also allows the body to feel full before overeating begins.
Another smart habit is pairing meat with colourful vegetables, salads and lentils. Fresh foods add fibre and help the stomach cope better with heavy meals. A squeeze of lemon, fresh herbs and homemade yoghurt dips can also make dishes feel lighter and fresher.
Experts also advise choosing grilled, baked or lightly cooked dishes more often than deep-fried options. While kebabs and curries remain festive favourites, excessive oil and spice can leave people feeling sluggish and uncomfortable.
Hydration is equally important. Many people forget to drink enough water while enjoying tea, soft drinks and desserts throughout the day. Water helps the body stay refreshed, especially during long gatherings and warm afternoons.
Finally, Eid is not about eating endlessly — it is about sharing happiness. A balanced plate, mindful portions and a little movement after meals can help people enjoy every bite while still feeling energetic long after the celebrations end.
