Suspected measles deaths at RMCH rise to 46 as three more die in 24 hours
Three more patients with measles-like symptoms have died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours, raising the total number of suspected measles deaths at the hospital to 46 this year.
The deaths occurred within the 24 hours ending at 8:00am today, confirmed Dr Shankar K Biswas, spokesperson of the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Saim, an 11-month-old from Kushtia; Jobayer, a 10-month-old from Pabna; and Ahnaf, a six-month-old from Chapainawabganj.
During the same period, 23 new patients with suspected measles were admitted to the hospital, while 10 patients were discharged.
Currently, 133 patients with suspected measles are undergoing treatment at RMCH, said Dr Shankar.
“So far this year, a total of 452 suspected measles patients have been admitted to the hospital,” he added.
