‘Lockdown’ taken lightly in Manikganj while Covid-19 positivity rate 33.70%
The positivity rate of Covid-19 was at 33.70 percent in Manikganj, as people are ignoring health directives all over the district, especially in the town.
Heavy traffic was seen at different points including Shaheed Rafiq road.
Although all shops were closed, shopkeepers were seen standing in front of the shops and running their businesses, ignoring the restriction. Whenever a customer comes, the shopkeeper enters the shop and comes out with the product.
People are also crowding in banks as few days are left until Eid-ul-Azha, reports our Manikganj correspondent.
In 24 hours, till 9am today, 270 samples were tested and 91 were found to be positive for Covid-19. The infection rate is 33.70 percent, according to a Facebook post of the Civil Surgeon's Office.
"Among the 91 newly infected people, 38 are from Sadar, 20 from Singair, nine from Shibalaya, nine from Ghior, nine from Saturia, three from Harirampur and three are from Daulatpur upazila," according to the civil surgeon's office.
Meanwhile, 24,977 samples have been tested in the district so far and 3,093 people were tested positive. Of them, 2,437 have recovered.
So far, 59 people have died of Covid in the district.
Lockdown started in Manikganj since June 22.
