Biman flight leaves Beijing with 10 lakh Sinopharm vaccines

A Bangladesh Biman flight left the Beijing International Airport for Dhaka today with 10 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines bought from the Chinese state-owned enterprise Sinopharm.

The flight left for Dhaka at 6:45 pm (Bangladesh time) today, Hualong Yan, deputy chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, announced on his Facebook page.

"Another 10 lakh doses would leave Beijing by a second flight around 9:45 pm (Bangladesh time) today," he added.

Earlier yesterday, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director-General Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam mentioned that 20 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccines would arrive from Beijing today.

Bangladesh has purchased 1.5 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines from Sinopharm. The rest are expected to arrive within three months.
