203 Covid-19 deaths reported in 24 hours; 12,198 infected

Two hundred and three people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 16,842 and the death rate stands at 1.61 percent.

At least 12,198 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 10,47,155, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 29.21 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.84 percent.

A total of 41,755 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 7,646 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 8,56,346 and the recovery rate at 84.91 percent.

Among the 203 deceased, 132 were men and 71 were women.

Of them, six were within 21-30 years old, 12 between 31-40, 28 between 41-50, 39 between 51-60 and 118 were above 60 years old, added the release.
