17 die at RMCH Covid-19 unit in 24 hours; positivity rate in Rajshahi 26.68%

Seventeen people died at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of the deceased, five were Covid-19 positive and the rest died with symptoms, our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports quoting RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani.

Six of them were from Rajshahi, four from Natore, two each from Chapainawabganj and Naogaon and one each from Naogaon, Bogra and Jhenaidah.

During 24 hours, 188 samples were tested at RMCH lab through RT-PCR testing and 57 of them came positive while 183 were tested at Rajshahi Medical College lab and 42 of them were Covid-19 positive, Brig Gen Yazdani said.

A total of 60 people was admitted to the coronavirus unit of RMCH in the 24 hours till 8am today. With them, 506 are being treated at the unit. Seventy-six pateints left the hospital after recovery.

The current positive rate in the district is 26.68 percent.
