13 die in Covid-19 units at 4 Khulna hospitals in 24 hours

Thirteen patients died while undergoing treatment at Covid-19 units of four Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.

The four hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital, Khulna General Hospital and Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital. 

Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid-19 unit at KMCH, said that seven patients died at the unit in 24 hours till this morning. Of them, four were Covid-19 positive and the others had symptoms.

A total of 201 people were undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid-19 unit till 8am today. Of them, 134 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 27 in yellow zone, 20 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 20 are at the intensive care unit (ICU), he said.

Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, three patients died at the hospital's Covid-19 unit in 24 hours till 8am.

On the other hand, two patients died while being treated at the Covid-19 unit of Khulna General Hospital, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Kazi Abu Rashed. Sixty patients were taking treatment at the unit till this morning, he added.

At Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital, one person died at the Covid-19 unit during the period, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath.

Forty-five patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid-19 unit. Of them, 10 were in ICU, he added.
