Govt. reveals 4 year long ICT roadmap incorporating Vision 2021

Govt. announces a 4 year long master plan keeping in mind the Vision 2021 set by PM. State minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak while addressing the press about the achievements of ICT Division in the last one year, divulged the roadmap towards a Digital Bangladesh. In the event titled “One more year in journey towards Digital Bangladesh” which took place in in Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), he also discussed the key highlights of 2014.
Palak on his address said that govt. expects to launch 4G network in Bangladesh by 2016. Before that the first phase construction work of the Jessore hi-tech park will be finished by March 2015. He also informed that the construction of 10 software Technology Park also underway. Around 70 thousand skilled professionals will be trained in these parks in next four years. Incubation centers will be setup to help the new entrepreneurs built their startups.
A tier-3 certified data center has been expanded which will be able to hold 750TBs of data and a bandwidth capacity of 1Gbps. This data capacity will be expanded to 2 Peta Bytes, which will make it the 5th largest data center in the world. A joint workforce with BRAC is working to develop multimedia contents for primary schools. Meanwhile a complete cyber security law (revised 2009 amended 2015) is waiting for approval of the Cabinet Division.
Palak also said, “The ICT sector made remarkable progress in the past couple of years as we formulated effective and time-befitting policy initiatives as well as took steps for infrastructural development aiming to make Bangladesh a technologically advantaged country.”
Senior officials of ICT division, IT professionals, entrepreneurs, journalists, among others, were present at the press conference.
