Strong chance of rain, thunderstorms across country from tomorrow

From tomorrow onwards, there is a strong chance of rain and thunderstorms in various parts of the country. Besides, there was a chance of rain in Dhaka between 5 and 10 pm today.

Mostafa Kamal Palash, a weather and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada said, "After reviewing various weather forecasting models, meteorologists reported this possibility. Almost all models, including the American and European weather forecasting models, are making these predictions."

Mostafa Kamal Palash further said, "The storm season has begun in Bangladesh. Almost every day for the next week, there is a strong chance of lightning, rain, and hail in various parts of the country."

The Dhaka Meteorological Office also predicts a storm in some parts of the country. There could also be strong winds and thunder showers. Meteorologists, however, couldn't be certain about the hailstorm.

"According to the information available until this morning," Md Shahinul Islam, a meteorologist of Dhaka Meteorological Office, told The Daily Star, "Nearly all the districts of Sylhet division are likely to receive rain or thundershowers with gusty winds for the next three days."

Besides, rain with gusty winds or thunder showers is possible in some areas of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Mymensingh, and Dhaka divisions, he added.
