Rain likely in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet; Dhaka to remain dry: Met office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecasted rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at one or two places in the country during the next 24 hours commencing around 9am today.

"Rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country," according to a met office bulletin.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

However, Dhaka and surrounding areas will remain dry, and day temperature will remain nearly unchanged, another forecast by the met office said. Sky over the area might remain temporarily and partly cloudy, it added.

Country's maximum temperature was recorded 36.2 degrees Celsius at Rangamati and today's minimum temperature was recorded 21.6 degrees Celsius at Rajarhat in Rangpur, said the bulletin.

Maximum rainfall of 26 millimeters (mm) in 24 hours till 6am today was recorded at Rajarhat in Rangpur, it added.
