The condition of Bangladeshi student Golam Sayed Rinku, who was rescued alive from the rubble of a building in Turkey's Kahramanmaraş province 37 hours after the powerful earthquake jolted the region, is gradually improving.

Hafizz Muhammad, a Bangladeshi living in Ankara, told the Daily Star, "I had a talk with Rinku's attendant at the hospital. Quoting doctors, the attendant said Rinku's condition is improving and there was no fracture."

He said as it was snowing for a large part of the time Rinku was trapped beneath the rubble, his condition had deteriorated.

Hafizz said Rinku is admitted at the Kahramanmaraş Sütçüimam University's medical centre and his attendant is a Bangladeshi student of the medicine department.

"He [Rinku] talked with physicians but is still not out of danger," Hafizz said quoting the attendant.

There are reportedly five Bangladeshi students, including Rinku, in Kahramanmaraş province in Turkey.

According to the consul general, all the Bangladeshis in the Gaziantep province, which is near Kahramanmaraş, are also safe.
