The 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) commenced last Saturday (January 11) to showcase 220 films from 75 countries across 10 categories. This year the festival includes 44 Bangladeshi films.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has delayed the Oscar 2025 nominations announcement for a second time due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Initially, the voting period was extended by two days to provide members with more time, moving the announcement to January 19.

The National Award winner believes that playing the titular role in any film is a great honour and a matter of immense joy for any artiste. “It feels incredibly fulfilling when you have the opportunity to play the lead role. I am both happy and excited to witness the audience’s reaction.”

The election to appoint new leadership for the Film Directors’ Association, initially scheduled for the end of last year, was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. A new date was set for January 10, but voting did not take place on the day either. As a result, the leadership selection remains pending.
