For Shahnaz Sumi, Eid-ul-Azha has been just another day-- Each year unfolds in its own unique way, bringing fresh surprises and heartwarming moments that make the festival deeply meaningful for her.

As the festive season arrives, Priom, like many others, reflects on the bittersweet essence of Eid—the joy wrapped in family rituals, coloured with memories of loved ones no longer around.

Farhan Ahmed Jovan, a prominent figure on the Bangladeshi small screen, is set to make this Eid-ul-Azha particularly memorable. Not only does it mark his first Eid since marrying Sajin Ahmed Nirjona in early 2024, but it also sees him embracing both personal and professional milestones.

For shopping and dining out, Tawsif prefers the convenience of paying by card. “It’s really hard carrying cash. With a card, you can buy anything, anywhere—it’s just more convenient,” he says.

However, with time comes change, and for Basar, that change has brought a more grounded, purposeful experience. “Nowadays, we go on our own, with a sense of duty. My father, my brother, and I—all of us take this responsibility seriously,” shared the Networker Baire actor. “Choosing the sacrificial animal is no longer just an adventure; it’s a significant task. The entire day becomes a mix of tradition, responsibility, and spiritual fulfilment. I personally see to everything—from selecting the animal to ensuring the process is carried out properly.”

A film enthusiast, Aisha’s Eid celebrations often include a trip to the theaters. “I’ve always been a big fan of Marvel and DC movies,” she beams. “But recently, my love for Bangla cinema has grown stronger. The quality and storytelling have improved so much—I now prioritise watching Bangla films during Eid.”

This Eid-ul-Adha, local OTT platform Chorki is rolling out four major titles under one bold banner—“birat gurur haat”—bringing together some of the year’s most anticipated films: “Borbaad”, “Daagi”, “Chokkor 302”, and “Jongli”.

Production houses race to finalise how many theatres their films will grace and who will control the distribution map. Insider sources from six production houses confirm that while the spotlight remains fixed on Dhaka multiplexes, the number of theatres showing these films varies widely.

It was during the school-free weekends when my maternal cousins and I would huddle in front of our grandparents' grey old box TV after a hearty, yet customary lunch arrangement at their place. While his grandfather always encouraged him to tag along, Partho admits he was never too keen. "I wasn't fond of crowds or the chaos of the haat (cattle market). I used to find excuses to skip it," he says, laughing. "But my grandfather knew how to win me over. He would bring back sweets and charred flatbreads from the market, because he knew how much I loved them. That was something I looked forward to every single year."

But during Eid, everyone is free, and that gives us the chance to meet, talk, and share time together. I’m really looking forward to those chats and moments.”

As “Taandob” gears up for its theatrical release this Eid, a special press conference was held at a hotel in Dhaka’s Gulshan, featuring the film’s core cast and crew. 

As Tasnia Farin steps onto her next chapter, one thing is clear: whether it’s through her acting, her voice, or her screen presence, she continues to break barriers and raise expectations. The only question that remains is: will the box-office collections do “Insaaf” to her hard work this Eid?

After more than two decades, noted director Shahidul Islam Mintu returns to television with the drama “Shunno Theke Shuru”, currently being shot in Canada. The project features acclaimed actors Mosharraf Karim and Tazika Amin, marking their first time shooting a drama in the country.
