'Sholay' actor Birbal, who worked in over 500 films, dies
Veteran actor Satinder Kumar Khosla, who was famously known as Birbal, passed away on Tuesday evening. According to the ANI news agency, he breathed his last at a hospital in Mumbai. He was in his eighties at the time of his demise.
Jugnu, a close friend of Satinder, confirmed his passing to the agency. The actor succumbed to a cardiac arrest while in the Kokilaben Hospital. His funeral will take place on Wednesday.
The official Twitter account of the Cine & TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA), now known as X, expressed deep condolences for Satinder's loss with a post that read, "CINTAA extends its heartfelt condolences on the demise of Birbal (Member since 1981)."
Satinder is most renowned for his comedic roles. His unique appearance, characterized by a bald head and a thick mustache, made him easily recognizable. He collaborated in various films with Manoj Kumar, including "Upkar," "Roti Kapda Aur Makaan," and "Kranti."
Nonetheless, it was his portrayal of a prisoner in the film "Sholay" that garnered significant attention. He also appeared in other movies such as "Naseeb," "Yaarana," "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke," "Anjaam," and more.
