My fiancé calls me ‘Dhongi’: Mim

Popular model and actress Bidya Sinha Mim got engaged at a five star hotel in the capital last night. The day called for a double celebration, as it was also her birthday. Many popular faces from the industry were seen to be present at the joyous occasion.

In a candid chat with The Daily Star, a rather happy and excited Mim spoke about her recent endeavors, and more.

How did you feel this morning after such a life-changing event last night?

Just like any other day! However, few people knew about my fiancé before, and now everyone does. I am blessed to have received prayers and best wishes from many across the globe. This made my day really special.

You have known Soni Poddar for six years. What do you like in your partner the most?

I am lucky that I was blessed with a partner who has no prejudice or ego. I like his personality and very much adore his character.

Soni went down on his knees and offered me the ring last night but I never expected this to happen. I think it was his friends who suggested this gesture but I cannot deny that this episode took me completely by shock.

How does Soni usually address you?

My fiancé calls me 'Dhongi'. Sometimes I act coy with him while sometimes I pretend to be mad at him – this has earned me the title of 'Dhongi Meye'.

Do you think being engaged will affect your acting career?

Obviously not! I will keep working the same way. Soni appreciates and respects my work, and this motivates me to do better.
