Brindabon Das has 8 Eid projects in store
Noted scriptwriter-actor Brindabon Das is looking forward to 8 projects this Eid, including "Haradhoner Ekti Bagan", "Picture Man", "Sushil Family", and "Paal Bari".
"Haradhoner Ekti Bagan" is directed by Salahuddin Lavlu. Nizam Mahbub has directed "Picture Man" and "Paal Bari" is directed by Dipu Hazra.
The actor will also appear in pivotal roles in three productions this season.
In a candid conversation with The Daily Star, Brindabon Das spoke about his upcoming ventures and more.
"I write scripts for television all year long," he shares. "I do pick up roles that I like. However, I am more invested in writing."
Alongside single episodes, the comedy tele-serial "Karim and Sons" scripted by him and directed by Shokal Ahmed, is also set to air soon. The production has been shot at Pubail.
"Even though this is a comic story, we also tried to deliver a social message through this project," he adds.
The affectionate bond shared by a family is the focus of "Karim and sons".
"Shanda Panda" which is directed by Salahuddin Lavlu is set to air on Channel i soon. The shooting of this serial was done in Pubail.
"The story is set in rural Bangladesh," shares Brindabon Das.
The popular playwright uses anarchic language in most of his scripts, mostly inclining toward the regional dialect of Pabna. "Hailing from Pabna, I know their local language very well and enjoy using it," he says.
"However, I also wrote the script of 'Cheitta Pagol" in the local dialect of Noakhali." "Cheitta Pagol" is directed by popular actor Mahfuz Ahmed.
Brindabon Das, who has been crafting stories for television for the last two decades, also spoke about the dwindling quality of productions in recent times. "Projects with frail plots are released in abundance on television these days. As a result, we often lose track of or miss out on good stories," he asserts.
"We need bigger budgets to make productions that are worth people's time," he concludes.
