Keya Payel brings diverse roles to screen this Eid
Keya Payel is one of the most popular and in-demand actresses of the new generation. She remains active throughout the year, consistently appearing in a range of projects. In recent years, audiences have come to expect several of her dramas during major festivals like Eid—and this year will be no different. In fact, viewers are likely to see even more of her on screen this Eid.
“I’m hoping around six to seven of my dramas will be aired this Eid,” she says. “Each one has a different story and a distinct character. Audiences will get to see me in a variety of new roles. I’ve done some really good work this time, and more importantly, I’ve genuinely enjoyed the process.”
When asked if there are any Eid roles she still finds hard to forget, Keya shares that it often happens. “Every Eid, there are one or two characters that stay with me long after the shoot ends. They linger in my mind for quite some time.”
This year is no exception. “In one of the dramas, I played the role of a mad woman. I won’t reveal too much about it just yet, but I can say that stills from that look have already gone viral. Even after returning home, I found it difficult to come out of the character.”
She admits the role was particularly challenging. “It was quite demanding, so I had to prepare thoroughly. It took me a while to shake it off—it really stayed with me.”
Looking ahead, Keya says she wants to focus on meaningful stories and strong characters. “I want to be part of projects that audiences will remember for a long time.”
She has already shared the screen with many of the industry’s leading actors, including appearances opposite Zovan in this year’s Eid dramas. “My co-actors have been incredibly supportive,” she adds.
As for her Eid plans, Keya will be staying in Dhaka, spending time with her family. “I’ll be at home during the holidays, giving time to my family and myself. I’ll also catch up with friends and enjoy some adda.”
Will she be watching her own dramas? She laughs, “Of course! Not just mine—I’d like to watch others’ work as well.”
