After 17 years, I was able to cast my vote: Baby Naznin
Singer Baby Naznin cast her vote in the national parliamentary election on Thursday, joining voters across the country in exercising their franchise.
A voter of the Dhaka-17 constituency, she went to the polling centre at Gulshan Model School and College around 11:00am. After casting her ballot, she spoke to journalists about the experience.
“I voted for the paddy sheaf (dhaner shish). I feel very happy. Finally, I was able to cast my vote. This is what I had wanted. I feel like casting all the votes of the past 17 years again,” she said.
Ahead of the election, the singer had been actively campaigning in support of the paddy sheaf, the electoral symbol of the BNP.
Responding to a question about not receiving a party nomination, she said, “Whatever decision the party has made is what matters most to me.”
When asked whether she might be nominated to Parliament through a reserved women’s seat, she said the matter depended on the party leadership. “That also depends on the party’s decision. With your prayers and if Allah wills, it may happen,” she added.
She also urged voters to support the paddy sheaf and expressed her commitment to building what she described as a “beautiful, successful, and peaceful Bangladesh” under the party’s leadership.
