Local cinemas have been awaiting welcoming new releases, from the beginning of the new year. Continuing this momentum, two government-funded films are hitting theatres nationwide today.

Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan, known for their successful collaborations, are reportedly set to work together again. According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, Farah is currently developing a script for “Main Hoon Na 2”. 

Among the recipients are late novelist Shahidul Zahir (Md Shahidul Haque) and poet Helal Hafeez, who will be honoured posthumously for their contributions to Language and Literature. Renowned photographer and founder of Drik Gallery and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, Shahidul Alam, will receive the award for his work in Culture and Education. Filmmaker Azizur Rahman, famed for his work on “Chhutir Ghonta”, will be conferred the award posthumously for his contributions to Arts (Cinema), while Ustad Nirad Baran Barua and Ferdous Ara will be honored for Music. Nasir Ali Mamun will be recognized for Arts (Photography), and Rokeya Sultana will receive the award for Arts (Fine Arts).

Renowned filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim, known for “Monpura”, has garnered widespread acclaim for his latest directorial venture, “Kajolrekha”. The film has now been showcased at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands.

The film, about a mythical boy with magical powers and incredible martial arts skills, overtook the previous record holder "The Battle at Lake Changjin", a 2021 epic about the Korean War.
